“We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children” iterates Siruthuli team, who are all set to commence their 11th year Nature Camp for school children. As always, this NGO reminds us of our responsibility for a cleaner and Greener World for our children. Instilling sustainable and eco-friendly values in our children towards protection and conservation of Mother Earth is definitely the need of the hour.
Team Siruthuli shares about the insights of the camp, 'It's just not another nature camp, but it's 'Nurture' Nature Camp which promises to impart training to around 120 students from various schools of the region. During this camp the children will be exposed to the four pillars of Siruthuli - Water conservation, Afforestation, Waste Management and Awareness. This program is absolutely free of cost and so far, 1000 plus students have gone back having become more eco-conscious and socially responsible youngsters.
As we enter into our eleventh year, we have invited 120 students and 25 faculty members from various educational institutions. This nurture camp starts on 17th April to 22nd April 2017 (Monday to Saturday). During the camp the children are given an opportunity to experience several eco-friendly activities like:
The entire programme is conducted on a pro bono basis. Siruthuli does not charge anything to the students or teachers. The programme starts at 8 am in the morning and ends by 4 pm in the evening. Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks along with the required stationary materials, transportation, caps and other materials needed for training purposes will be provided to the participating students.

- Field trip to the River Noyyal and its water bodies.
- Afforestation – the entire journey from seed to a tree.
- A taste of farming activities through hands-on experiences to the children who otherwise do not get an opportunity to know how and where from their food comes.
- Segregation of Waste to promote zero garbage homes - including disposal of medical waste.
- Home composting programmes with special focus on kitchen & terrace gardens.
- Special hands-on experience in up cycling to recycle and reuse waste.
