Students Rally for Awareness Against Drug Abuse in Pollachi Following the Kallakurichi Incident

Over 100 students from private schools and colleges in Pollachi organized an awareness march against drug abuse, highlighting the dangers following the tragic deaths due to illicit liquor consumption in Kallakurichi.

In a strong response to the tragic incident in Kallakurichi where over fifty individuals lost their lives due to illicit liquor consumption, over 100 students from several schools and colleges in Pollachi teamed up with police authorities to organize an awareness rally. This march aimed at educating the public about the dangerous impacts of drug abuse.

The rally commenced on major roads including Kovai Road, Palakkad Road, and around the central bus station and market streets of Polluchi. Students, carrying banners and placards with anti-drug messages, actively chanted slogans to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance use among the community.



The initiative belongs to a series of efforts by the local government every year to raise awareness on drug abuse. Teachers and students alike emphasized the need for awareness and preventive measures to combat the use and spread of illegal drugs in the region.
