Coimbatore: A tense scenario unfolded in Pollachi when a local farmer, identified as Balasubramaniam, attempted to commit suicide by drinking pesticide in the midst of a protest. The incident occurred during a demonstration led by Narayanasamy Naidu, head of the Farmer's Association. The protest, staged in front of the Pollachi Deputy Superintendent's office, was to voice concerns against the rampant selling of toxic liquor in the area.
