New Statues Including G D Naidu's to Grace Tamil Nadu at a Cost of ₹50 Lakhs Each

Nine new statues, including one of G D Naidu, will be installed in Tamil Nadu, each costing ₹50 lakhs, announced by Minister M.P. Saminathan.



Coimbatore:  Tamil Nadu is set to enhance its cultural landscape with the installation of nine statues of distinguished personalities, each worth ₹50 lakhs. The line-up includes a statue of the renowned scientist and industrialist G D Naidu in Coimbatore, which aims to memorialize his significant contributions to technology and innovation.

Please contact the doc. G D Naidu, revered for his inventive prowess, will be recognized alongside other notable figures such as Velu Nachiyar at Chennai's Gandhi Mandapam, recognized for her role in the Indian independence movement, and the Marudu brothers in Sivagangai, famed for their involvement in the Polygar Wars.

In his address during a financial grant discussion, Minister of Information and Publicity M.P. Saminathan detailed the plan. The selection also includes Sir John Hubert Marshall, who played a crucial role in unveiling the secrets of the Indus Valley Civilization, and Seegan Balku, who pioneered printing technology in Tamil Nadu.

Additional statues will memorialize notable leaders such as former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in Tiruvallur and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Chennai. These installations across various cities aim to celebrate and remember the diverse contributions these leaders made to both the nation and the state of Tamil Nadu.

The initiative aims not only to pay tribute but also to educate and inspire future generations about these figures' enduring legacies in various fields including agriculture, archaeology, and politics, thereby enriching Tamil Nadu's rich cultural heritage.
