Successful Emergency Childbirth in Ambulance During Heavy Rain in Coimbatore

In Mathampalayam, Coimbatore, a pregnant woman Soumiya delivered a healthy baby boy in an ambulance during heavy rain with the help of emergency medical technicians.


Coimbatore: An emergency team swiftly responded to a maternity call from Mathampalayam, Ambedkar Nagar on behalf of 23-year-old Soumiya, leading to a miraculous childbirth under challenging conditions yesterday. The emergency call was received at 18:27, and by 18:35, the team, comprising emergency medical technician Balamurugan and pilot Arun, was on its way to transfer the pregnant woman to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital.




Amid pouring rain, Soumiya went into labor, necessitating an in-ambulance delivery on the main road of Mathampalayam. Aided by the skillful handling by the medical team, Soumiya gave birth to a healthy male child, adding to their family that already includes a girl.




The ambulance team's prompt and efficient handling of the delivery during adverse weather conditions garnered praise from the public. Currently, both mother and child are admitted to Mettupalayam GH, reported to be in good health by medical officials.
