Residents protest as empty pots and an ignorant government goes hand in hand

Around 150 members from Pallipalayam Panchayat of the Tirupur district, was found on the Palladam Dharapuram road today morning, protesting against the irregular drinking water supply.

According to sources, residents receive drinking and salt water supply once in18 days for only an hour or two. The salt water usually comes in trickles, insufficient to meet the hygiene requirements of families.

'Due to delay in local body elections, there is no councilor in this region and the residents are clueless about whom to approach to voice their problems and difficulties. Lack of proper response from the respective officials has prompted the desperate residents and panchayat members to stage protests and rallies. Since no officials have been willing to hold talks with the protestors yet, the Palladam Dharapuram road is still blocked', allege the residents.
