Applications Welcomed for New Aavin Shops in Coimbatore

Mano Thangaraj, the Minister of Dairy Development in Tamil Nadu, announced in Coimbatore that applications for new Aavin shops are now being accepted, highlighting various enhancements in the dairy sector.

Coimbatore: During a press meet at the Coimbatore Government Guest House on June 30, Mano Thangaraj, Minister of Dairy Development, informed reporters about the ongoing advancements in Aavin management and the dairy sector's recent developments. Minister Thangaraj highlighted several initiatives aimed at boosting dairy transactions and supporting dairy farmers, including the procurement of 36 lakh liters of milk through dairy unions and offering a subsidy of Rs. 3 per liter to encourage farmers last year.

Increased production capacity and operational initiatives to handle up to 70 lakh liters signified improvements. Minister Thangaraj also revealed plans to further promote cattle insurance under government partnership schemes, ensuring significant government contribution towards farmer security and productivity.

In addition, infrastructure improvements are being implemented to enhance the milk handling capacity as a response to increasing milk supply. Other discussed plans included promoting fodder cultivation on available farming land to alleviate the shortage of grazing lands due to urban development.

Minister Thangaraj reassured that these measures, including interest-reduced loans through cooperatives and sales strategies, ensure steady progress in dairy sales and maintenance of milk quality. He encouraged local entrepreneurs, particularly from economically weaker sections, to apply for running new Aavin outlets, as applications are now open, aiming to expand Aavin's reach and support economic growth in underserved areas.
