Coimbatore District Collector Invites Students for Annual Speech Competition

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati encourages school and college students to participate in the annual speech competition on April 14, 2024. The event honors notable leaders and fosters engagement with their ideologies.


Coimbatore: Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS, has encouraged students from schools and colleges across Coimbatore District to engage in an intellectual exercise by partaking in the district-level speech competition. Authoritatively set for April 14, 2024, the competition is structured to celebrate the birthdays of renowned leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Ambedkar, Periyar, Arignar Anna, and Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

The announced themes emphasize the societal thoughts and reformative philosophies proposed by these leaders. Kranthi Kumar Pati highlighted the importance of involving youth in dialogues about social reform and leadership, aiming to instill a deeper understanding and appreciation of India's rich heritage of thought leadership.

The competition is scheduled to be held at the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Auditorium located on the second floor of the old district office building. Winning participants will receive accolades and financial rewards, with first prizes amounting to ₹5000, second ₹3000, and third ₹2000. Additionally, two government school students will be specially selected for individual awards.

The event not only aims to perpetuate the memory of historic leaders but also to inspire today's youth with their philosophies and life missions. Topics for the contest include discussions on Ambedkar's contributions to social justice, his legal acumen, and visions for equality. Schools are advised to conduct preliminary rounds through the Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Tamil Mandram, and colleges should submit their participants' details by email to [email protected] by July 7, 2024.
