A lone wild elephant named 'Chilli Komban' has been sighted in the Aliyar area near Pollachi, causing concern. Tourists traveling on the Valparai road are advised to proceed with caution.


Coimbatore: The recent sightings of a lone wild elephant, known locally as 'Chilli Komban,' wandering in the Aliyar region near Pollachi, has raised alarms among the local community and tourists. The wild elephant has been notably active along the Valparai road and nearby residential areas.

The Forest Department has been intensively patrolling the area, attempting to drive the elephant back into the denser forests to avoid any conflicts. Videos of Chilli Komban casually walking on the Valparai road have gone viral on social media, drawing significant attention.

Due to the increased presence of the elephant on this route, Pollachi Forest Ranger Gnanabalamurugan has urged tourists traveling towards Valparai to remain vigilant. The public is strongly advised against stopping their vehicles to take photographs on these roads. Rangers continue to monitor the elephant's movements to ensure the safety of both the animal and the public.
