Coimbatore: In a significant development, Kalpana Anandakumar, the first female Mayor of Coimbatore, has formally resigned from her post. Kalpana, who was elected as a council member from the 19th ward in Ganapathy region on her first candidacy, assumed her responsibilities as Mayor earlier. Her resignation was officially accepted by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran.



When journalists questioned Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran about her resignation, he confirmed that Kalpana Anandakumar resigned due to personal reasons. This move follows recent speculations about her impending resignation, which has now been officially confirmed.
