Actress Athulya Ravi's Maid Caught Stealing in Coimbatore Home

A maid working at actress Athulya Ravi's Coimbatore residence was arrested for stealing a passport and Rs. 2,000. The theft was captured on CCTV, leading to the arrest of two women.


Coimbatore: In a recent incident, a maid working at the residence of popular Tamil actress Athulya Ravi in Coimbatore was caught stealing a passport and Rs. 2,000. The theft, which occurred a few days ago, was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the house.

Athulya Ravi, who made her debut in the 2017 film "Kadhal Kan Kattudhe" and has since starred in several films including "Yemali" and "Naadodigal 2", resides with her mother Vijayalakshmi in their home on Marutham Road, Vadavalli, Coimbatore.

After noticing the missing passport and money, Vijayalakshmi searched the entire house but couldn't find them. She then filed a complaint at the Vadavalli Police Station. The police registered a case and began investigating the incident.

During the investigation, suspicion fell on Selvi (46), a maid from Kulathupaalayam near Thondamuthur, who worked at Athulya's residence. When questioned by the police, Selvi gave contradictory answers. Upon further interrogation, she confessed to stealing the passport and money with the help of her friend.

Following the confession, the police arrested Selvi and her accomplice, Subhashini (40). The authorities recovered Rs. 1,500 from the accused. The CCTV footage of the incident was released on June 5, confirming the theft and leading to the arrest of the two women.

This incident has raised concerns about household security, even in the homes of celebrities. Athulya Ravi, known for her roles in Tamil cinema, has not yet commented publicly on the incident.
