Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Minister for Housing and Urban Development S. Muthuswamy inaugurated a new, grand entrance gate at the Coimbatore District Collectorate on July 11. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries and government officials.
The Coimbatore District Collectorate houses 35 major government departments and over 100 branches of other departments, with more than 1,000 government employees and officials working on the premises. The need for a new entrance arose due to the inadequate width of the existing gate near the BSNL office, which posed difficulties for vehicle movement.

The newly constructed entrance gate, located near the SBI bus stand, is designed to be more spacious, allowing for smoother traffic flow. Initially, the project was expected to be completed and opened to the public by June 2024. However, the work was finished ahead of schedule, enabling its inauguration today.
Present at the inauguration were Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Coimbatore MP P.R. Natarajan, Pollachi MP K. Shanmugasundaram, and other key government officials. The new entrance is expected to significantly improve access to the Collectorate for both the public and government employees.
