Residents of Kurchi area pertaining to Ward No: 94 - 100 led by Kurichi Prabhakaran, Secretary of Kurichi area from DMK party petitioned to the Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan on the irregular supply of water and sewage issues in their wards.
The petitioner stated that 'Ward No 94 to 100 receives drinking water only once in 25 days and the salt water supply from the Corporation is also unpredictable. The residents are forced to use the salt water for drinking and cooking purposes which had led to several health issues, especially to the children.
People are forced to buy water for money and water being one of the very basic amenity, hence the residents of Kurichi are facing severe water crisis on a daily basis.
The petitioners also alleged that despite, escalating the drinking water issue over and again to their constituency MLA, no action has been initiated. Through their petition, they also highlighted the snail pace work that's been carried out by the Corporation sanitary workers in their ward.
In their petition, they had also requested the Corporation to install street lights on the Pollachi to Echanari railway flyover as the place pose a serious threat to the commuters during night hours.
