Two Arrested for Hoarding Tobacco Products Near Thiruvallur Nagar, Thudiyalur

Thudiyalur police arrested two individuals for storing banned tobacco products worth Rs. 2,20,000 in a house near Thiruvallur Nagar on July 12. The suspects were caught with 221 kg of illicit tobacco goods.


Coimbatore: The Thudiyalur police arrested two men for hoarding and selling banned tobacco products in a residential area near Thiruvallur Nagar on Wednesday, July 12. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and seized a significant quantity of illegal tobacco items.

The accused have been identified as Senthil (47), son of Malaichamy from Dindigul district, and Anandakumar (51), son of Vinayagamoorthy from Thudiyalur area. The police received confidential information about the storage and sale of tobacco products prohibited by the Tamil Nadu government within the jurisdiction of the Thudiyalur police station.

During the search operation, the police discovered 221 kilograms of banned tobacco products valued at Rs. 2,20,000 hidden in a house. The officers also confiscated two two-wheelers used by the suspects for their illegal operations.

The arrest of these individuals highlights the ongoing efforts of the local police to curb the sale and distribution of banned tobacco products in the region. The case is under further investigation to determine the source of the contraband and identify any potential links to larger distribution networks.
