Dilapidated Government Primary School in Nallur Near Pollachi Poses Risk to Students

Parents express concern over the deteriorating condition of a government primary school in Nallur, Pollachi. Broken roof tiles and weak walls pose risks during rainy seasons, leading to declining enrollment.

Coimbatore: The government primary school in Nallur village near Pollachi is facing severe structural issues, causing concern among parents and affecting student enrollment. The historic school, which currently has 29 students, is in a state of disrepair with broken roof tiles and weakened walls.

In recent days, Pollachi and surrounding areas have been experiencing continuous rainfall. Due to the damaged roof, rainwater seeps into the classrooms, creating puddles inside the school building. The weakened walls are also allowing water to penetrate, raising fears of potential electrical hazards.

Parents have repeatedly approached education department officials to renovate the school, but their pleas have gone unheeded. Frustrated by the lack of action, a group of parents filed a complaint at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's office today. They expressed their reluctance to send their children to school due to safety concerns and highlighted the declining student enrollment as a result of the poor infrastructure.

The parents have urged authorities to quickly renovate the school to ensure a safe learning environment for their children. They emphasized the need for prompt action to restore the building and provide quality education to the students of Nallur village.

Local education officials have been contacted for comment on the situation and the plans for addressing the school's urgent repair needs. The community awaits a response and hopes for swift action to safeguard the education and well-being of the children attending this historic primary school.
