Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Urges Public Cooperation in Dengue Prevention Measures

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS has issued guidelines for dengue prevention during the monsoon season, calling for public cooperation in implementing preventive measures across all 100 wards.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS has issued a press release outlining dengue prevention measures for the monsoon season. The Commissioner has appealed to residents of all 100 wards under the Coimbatore Corporation to cooperate in implementing these preventive measures.

Due to the intensification of the monsoon season in Coimbatore Corporation and its surrounding areas, favorable conditions for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, which spread dengue fever, have emerged. The Commissioner has requested the public to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of dengue.

Residents are advised to keep water storage containers in homes, construction sites, commercial complexes, offices, and market areas tightly covered to prevent mosquito breeding. They are also urged to immediately remove any unnecessary broken items around their houses that could collect water.

The Corporation has emphasized the importance of educating school students about dengue prevention and creating awareness. Students are encouraged to implement preventive measures at their homes and surrounding areas. They are also instructed to immediately inform the concerned Ward Health Officer and Sanitary Inspector if any student develops fever.

The public is strictly advised not to place unnecessary items like tires on their rooftops. Full cooperation is requested for Corporation employees engaged in dengue prevention activities. In case of fever, residents are urged to seek proper treatment at nearby government primary health centers and hospitals instead of purchasing medicines from pharmacies.

The Corporation also recommends boiling and cooling drinking water before consumption as a preventive measure.

Private companies and commercial complexes are warned to prevent mosquito breeding on their premises. The Corporation has cautioned that strict action will be taken, and fines will be imposed on establishments where mosquito breeding is detected.

Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS has appealed to all residents to cooperate fully in these efforts to completely prevent mosquito breeding and control the spread of dengue in Coimbatore.
