Coimbatore: A milk van traveling from Palani to Pollachi caught fire suddenly near Udumalpet, creating a tense situation in the area. The incident occurred around 11 PM last night on the four-lane highway in Indira Nagar, Tiruppur district.

The fire department from Udumalpet rushed to the spot and battled the flames for about an hour before successfully extinguishing the blaze. However, the milk van was completely gutted in the incident.

According to preliminary investigations by the fire department, the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in the vehicle's battery. The sudden outbreak of fire caused panic among local residents and passing motorists.

Fortunately, the driver and conductor of the milk van had a narrow escape. They noticed smoke coming from the vehicle just before the fire broke out and managed to exit the van in time, thereby avoiding any casualties.
