Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati launched the 'Ungalai Thedi Ungal Ooril' scheme at the Sulur Taluk Office on July 18.

Following the launch, he conducted field inspections at various government institutions, including the Sulur Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Veterinary Hospital, and Cooperative Store.

At the Girls Higher Secondary School, the Collector interacted with teachers, inquiring about basic facilities, student admissions, and learning capabilities.

He visited classrooms, met with students, and discussed the use of smart classrooms and curriculum.

During a media interaction, Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati stated that government schools are being upgraded with CSR assistance. He mentioned that efforts are underway to equip government schools with internet facilities and high-quality smart classrooms, on par with private schools.

The Collector also addressed the current weather conditions in the district. He noted that the southwest monsoon has been providing steady rainfall across Coimbatore district, leading to the filling up of water bodies and a significant rise in groundwater levels. However, due to continuous heavy rains and landslide risks in the Valparai region, schools there have been closed, and the situation is being monitored closely.

Kranthi Kumar Pati warned that flood alerts have been issued to residents along the banks of the Bhavani River due to increased water flow. He urged the public to avoid recreational activities near water bodies, such as bathing, taking selfies, or playing, given the increased water inflow. The Collector added that local bodies and police are continuously advising people to stay away from water bodies for safety reasons.
