MDMK Youth Wing Petitions Coimbatore City Traffic Commissioner to Control Bus Speeds

MDMK Youth Wing submitted a petition to Coimbatore City Traffic Commissioner on July 18, urging action to control the speed of private buses in urban areas to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.

Coimbatore: Members of the MDMK Youth Wing met with the Coimbatore City Traffic Commissioner on July 18 and submitted a petition regarding the excessive speed of private buses in urban areas.

The petition highlighted that private buses in Coimbatore city areas are being operated at high speeds, posing a threat to the public. Despite heavy traffic congestion during peak hours, these buses continue to operate at high speeds, resulting in numerous accidents. Although occasional inspections are conducted, a permanent solution to this issue has not been found.

The MDMK Youth Wing requested measures to control the speed of private buses on major roads such as Mettupalayam Road, Thadagam Road, Avinashi Road, Sathy Road, Trichy Road, and Pollachi Road. They emphasized the need for action to prevent accidents and protect pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.

The petition also called for stringent measures to ensure the safety of commuters and other road users. The MDMK representatives stressed the importance of implementing speed limits and regular monitoring to curb reckless driving by private bus operators.

The delegation that met with the Traffic Commissioner included MDMK State Student Wing Deputy Secretary Gopalakrishnan and District Organizer of the Student Wing Rajeev Kumar.
