CPIM Stages Protest in Periyanaickenpalayam Against Electricity Tariff Hike

CPIM organized a statewide protest on July 25 in Coimbatore, demanding the withdrawal of recent electricity tariff hike and implementation of monthly billing system. The demonstration took place at 17 locations across the district.


Coimbatore: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest in Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, on Tuesday, July 25, as part of a statewide demonstration against the recent electricity tariff hike implemented by the Tamil Nadu government.

The protestors demanded the immediate withdrawal of the increased electricity charges and called for the implementation of a monthly billing system. They also urged the government to initiate new power generation projects without relying on private entities.



P.R. Natarajan, a prominent CPIM leader, participated in the demonstration at Periyanaickenpalayam and addressed the gathering. The protest was one of 17 such events organized across Coimbatore district as part of the statewide agitation.

Several local CPIM leaders attended the protest, including Mohanraj, the Union Secretary of Periyanaickenpalayam, Bala Murthy, a district committee member, and Sivaraj, a town panchayat member. The demonstrators emphasized the need for affordable electricity rates and transparent billing practices to benefit the common people.
