Burglary in Appanaickenpalayam: 10 Sovereigns of Gold and Rs. 25,000 Stolen

A house in Appanaickenpalayam near Thudiyalur, Coimbatore was burgled while the owners were away on a pilgrimage. Thieves made off with gold jewelry and cash worth lakhs.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, burglars broke into a house in Appanaickenpalayam near Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, and stole 10 sovereigns of gold jewelry and Rs. 25,000 in cash. The theft occurred while the homeowners were away on a pilgrimage to Tirupati.

Bhaktavatsalam (70), a resident of Appanaickenpalayam, had locked his house and left for Tirupati with his family on July 23. When they returned on July 25, they were horrified to find their front door broken and their belongings scattered throughout the house.

Upon inspection, Bhaktavatsalam discovered that gold bangles, chains, bracelets, and other jewelry totaling 10 sovereigns were missing from the cupboard. Additionally, silver articles worth Rs. 25,000 were also stolen.

Shocked by the theft, Bhaktavatsalam immediately filed a complaint at the Thudiyalur Police Station. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation to track down the mysterious culprits responsible for the burglary.

This incident has raised concerns about security in the area, prompting residents to be more vigilant about their home safety measures, especially when leaving for extended periods.
