Coimbatore District Police arrested two men from Kerala for chain snatching in Pollachi. The suspects were caught and 10½ sovereigns of gold jewelry were recovered within days of the incident.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Police have successfully apprehended two individuals involved in a chain snatching incident and recovered 10½ sovereigns of gold jewelry. The arrest comes after a swift investigation following a complaint filed at the Pollachi East Police Station.
On July 24, 2024, Maheswari (42), a resident of the Pollachi East Police Station area, was traveling on her two-wheeler in Vadugapalayam when unidentified persons on another two-wheeler snatched her 10½ sovereign gold chain. The victim immediately filed a complaint at the Pollachi East Police Station.
Acting on the orders of Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan IPS, special teams were formed to investigate the case. The investigation led to the identification of two suspects from Kerala - Alla Pichai's son Ashrafudeen (21) and Muhammad Rafiq's son Muhammad Rafi (22).
The special team arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen 10½ sovereigns of gold jewelry. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in illegal activities as per the law. He urged the public not to fear reporting crimes and encouraged them to contact the Coimbatore District Police Control Room at 94981-81212 or send information via WhatsApp to 77081-00100. The SP assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
