8th Coimbatore Book Festival Concludes: Sales and Visitor Details Revealed

The 8th Coimbatore Book Festival, organized by the district administration and CODISSIA, concluded on July 28. The event saw 75,000 visitors and book sales worth Rs 3 crore, with children's books and novels being the most popular.


Coimbatore: The 8th Coimbatore Book Festival, jointly organized by the Coimbatore District Administration and CODISSIA (Coimbatore District Small Industries Association), concluded on July 28 at 8 PM after a successful 10-day run. The event, which began on July 19, featured various publishers showcasing their books and hosted daily programs.

CODISSIA officials reported that the book festival attracted 75,000 visitors this year, marking an increase of 7,500 compared to last year's 67,500 attendees. The visitor demographics included students from 224 schools, 71 government schools, 17,000 non-school students, 62 college students, and 5,000 non-college students.

According to CODISSIA organizers, book sales reached approximately Rs 3 crore during the festival. Children's books and novels were reportedly the best-selling categories, indicating a strong interest in these genres among the visitors.

The festival provided a platform for various publishers to exhibit and sell their books, offering a wide range of literary works to the public. The increased footfall and substantial sales figures highlight the growing interest in reading and literature among Coimbatore's residents.

This annual event continues to play a significant role in promoting reading culture and supporting the publishing industry in the region. The success of the 8th Coimbatore Book Festival demonstrates the city's enthusiasm for books and literary events, setting a positive trend for future editions.
