CSW Foundation and District Tobacco Control Cell Launch 'Paruvaetha Paiyar Seivuom 2.0' Program in Coimbatore

The "Paruvaetha Paiyar Seivuom 2.0" Tobacco-Free Schools Awareness Program was launched in Coimbatore on July 29, 2024. The initiative aims to promote awareness about tobacco dangers among students and create a healthier school environment.


Coimbatore: The CSW Foundation, in collaboration with the District Tobacco Control Cell, launched the "Paruvaetha Paiyar Seivuom 2.0" Tobacco-Free Schools Awareness Program at Corporation High School, Anuparapalyam, Coimbatore on July 29, 2024.



The inauguration event was attended by several dignitaries including Sivakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation; Malathi, Education Chairman; Meena, Central Zone Chairman; Dr. Saranya Devi, District Tobacco Control Cell Consultant; Murali Krishna, Social Worker; Thoufiq, Psychologist; and Harish Kumar, CSW Foundation Secretary. The school headmaster and faculty members were also present to support the initiative.

The "Paruvaetha Paiyar Seivuom 2.0" program is designed to educate students about the hazards of tobacco use and promote a healthier school environment by encouraging tobacco-free habits. This initiative reflects a collaborative effort to combat tobacco use and improve the overall well-being of young people in Coimbatore.

The event featured informative speeches, interactive sessions, and the distribution of educational materials. These resources are aimed at empowering students with knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their health, particularly regarding tobacco use.

The CSW Foundation, known for its commitment to community health and well-being, has partnered with the District Tobacco Control Cell to implement this program. The District Tobacco Control Cell is dedicated to reducing tobacco use through education, advocacy, and support programs aimed at promoting a tobacco-free society.

This initiative marks a significant step towards creating awareness and fostering a healthier environment for students in Coimbatore schools.
