Delta Squad from Coimbatore Rushes to Wayanad for Rescue Operations

A 25-member Delta Squad from Coimbatore Air Force Station has been deployed to Wayanad for rescue operations following landslides. The team is equipped with advanced technology for efficient rescue efforts.


Coimbatore: The Delta Squad, a specialized rescue team based at the Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore, has been dispatched to Wayanad to assist in rescue operations following severe landslides in the region. The 25-member team, led by Commander Eesan, left Coimbatore on Tuesday, carrying advanced equipment for the mission.

The Delta Squad, comprising personnel from the Air Force, Navy, and Army, is highly trained in disaster response and rescue operations. They are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the Synthetic Aperture Radar, which can accurately detect people buried under soil using satellite signals.



In addition to the radar equipment, the team has brought rubber boats, rubber tubes, life jackets, torches, and other essential rescue gear. Their primary focus will be on the affected areas of Wayanad, including Surul Mountain and Mundakkai.

The Delta Squad has an impressive track record, having participated in 18 major disaster relief operations to date. Their efforts have resulted in saving over 3,500 lives during various calamities.

This deployment underscores the importance of specialized rescue teams in disaster management and highlights the readiness of the armed forces to respond swiftly to emergencies across the country.
