Collector Advises Against Visiting Water Bodies on Aadi Perukku

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has advised the public not to visit Bhavani, Aliyar, Noyyal, and other water bodies during Aadi Perukku due to increased water flow from continuous rainfall.

Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has issued an advisory urging the public not to visit water bodies in Coimbatore district, including Bhavani, Noyyal, and Aliyar rivers, on the occasion of Aadi Perukku tomorrow.

The Western Ghats region in Tamil Nadu has been experiencing continuous rainfall. Areas like Valparai, Nilgiris, and Pollachi have been receiving occasional heavy showers, leading to increased water levels in various water bodies. Due to the rain, there has been a surge in water flow in rivers like Noyyal and Bhavani. The district administration had already advised the public to avoid visiting these areas.

Traditionally, people visit water bodies on Aadi Perukku. However, given the current situation of increased water flow in rivers due to ongoing rains, Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has instructed the public to refrain from visiting Bhavani, Noyyal, Aliyar, and other water bodies in Coimbatore district during this festival.
