Boat Rides Resume at Amaravathi Dam: Tourists Thrilled on Aadi Perukku

Boat rides at Amaravathi Dam near Udumalpet resumed on Aadi Perukku, delighting tourists. The dam, built by Kamarajar over 50 years ago, attracts visitors year-round, especially during holidays.

Coimbatore: The Amaravathi Dam, located near Udumalpet in Tiruppur district, has once again become a hub of tourist activity as boat rides resumed on the occasion of Aadi Perukku. The dam, built by former Chief Minister Kamarajar over 50 years ago, has long been a popular destination for tourists from various parts of Tamil Nadu.

Visitors flock to the dam throughout the year, particularly during special occasions and weekends. Today, coinciding with Aadi Perukku and the ongoing holiday season, tourists were thrilled to enjoy boat rides on the Amaravathi Dam.

The boat rides, operated by self-help groups, ensure proper safety measures for the tourists. In recent months, the dam's catchment areas had seen a continuous increase in water inflow, leading to the temporary suspension of boat rides. However, with the water levels now receding, the resumption of boat rides has brought joy to the visitors at the Amaravathi Dam.

The dam's picturesque surroundings and the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely boat ride have made it a favorite spot for both local and out-of-town tourists. The resumption of this activity is expected to boost tourism in the area, providing a much-needed recreational outlet for people seeking a break from their routine.
