A 22-year-old youth was fatally stabbed during a brawl at a liquor shop on Pollachi-Valparai Road. Two suspects have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Coimbatore: A late-night altercation at a liquor shop on the Pollachi-Valparai Road turned fatal, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old youth. The incident occurred on August 4, when Aravind, a resident of Narasipur in Thondamuthur, Coimbatore district, visited the liquor shop.

Aravind, who had been living in Pollachi for the past 18 months, was consuming alcohol at the shop when a dispute broke out between him and two shop employees, Vimal (22) and Faisal (33), both from Pollachi. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Vimal and Faisal allegedly stabbed Aravind with a knife and fled the scene. Aravind succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Upon receiving information, the Pollachi East Police arrived at the scene and recovered Aravind's body. It was then sent to the Pollachi Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.

Following a manhunt, the police apprehended both Vimal and Faisal. After questioning, the suspects were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

The tragic incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about safety and security in public spaces, particularly around liquor shops. Authorities are expected to increase vigilance in such areas to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
