Athiyamaan Urges Installation of Dr. Ambedkar Statue at Coimbatore Semmozhi Poonga

Athiyamaan, founder of Adhi Tamilar Peravai, demands the installation of Dr. Ambedkar's statue at Coimbatore Semmozhi Poonga. He calls for immediate government action to announce the decision for statue installation during an all-party meeting in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: An all-party meeting was held in Coimbatore to discuss the installation of Dr. Ambedkar's statue. The meeting took place at the Periyar Study Center in Gandhipuram, chaired by Ramakirishnan, General Secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam. Representatives from various Periyarist and Ambedkarite movements, including Athiyamaan, founder of Adhi Tamilar Peravai, participated in the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Athiyamaan said, "The demand for installing a statue of revolutionary Ambedkar in Coimbatore has been longstanding. The Municipal Corporation has already passed a resolution to install Dr. Ambedkar's statue in Coimbatore. The current government is not against it either. If approached properly, the statue would have been installed by now."

He further added, "In Erode, Dr. Ambedkar's statue was immediately installed due to the efforts of Housing Minister Muthuswamy. When I met Minister Senthil Balaji, he mentioned that work on the Semmozhi Poonga will begin soon. He suggested that Dr. Ambedkar's statue could be installed in front of this park."

"Therefore, Dr. Ambedkar's statue must be installed at Semmozhi Poonga without fail. The government should immediately decide and announce the decision to install the statue. We are also trying to meet the Chief Minister who is visiting Coimbatore tomorrow," Athiyamaan stated.
