Periyarist Organizations Protest Against Furniture Store in Coimbatore

Periyarist organizations staged a protest in Coimbatore, demanding the closure of Furniture store, a Sri Lankan company, condemning the killing of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan government.

Coimbatore: Several Periyarist organizations staged a protest in Coimbatore on Thursday, demanding the permanent closure of Furniture stores, a Sri Lankan company, in response to the Sri Lankan government's actions against Tamil Nadu fishermen.

The protest, led by various Periyarist movements including Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam and Tamil Puligal Katchi, took place in front of the Furniture store. Demonstrators raised slogans condemning the Sri Lankan government and urging the permanent closure of the store.

Despite heavy police presence deployed outside the furniture store, protesters gathered in large numbers, shouting slogans and expressing their anger against the Sri Lankan government's treatment of Tamil Nadu fishermen. The demonstrators emphasized that the protest was a mark of solidarity with the affected fishermen and a strong message against the actions of the Sri Lankan authorities.

The protest highlights the growing tension between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka over the long-standing issue of fishermen's rights and safety in the Palk Strait. Periyarist organizations have called for more stringent measures to be taken to protect Tamil Nadu fishermen and to put pressure on the Sri Lankan government to end the violent incidents at sea.
