Coimbatore: Tensions escalated near Pollachi as local residents attempted to besiege the Kottur Police Station, demanding justice for the suicide of Sakthikumar from Kengampalaiyam area. The incident led to heated arguments between the public and police officials, creating a tense atmosphere for over an hour.
Sakthikumar, a resident of Kengampalaiyam near Pollachi, committed suicide yesterday after releasing a video. In the video, he alleged that he had given money to three individuals who failed to return it, claiming fraud. He named Sadiq Basha, Ganesan Moorthy, and Senthilnathan as responsible for his death.
In connection with the case, the police have arrested only Ganesan Moorthy so far, while Sadiq Basha and Senthilnathan remain absconding. Angered by this, locals from Kengampalaiyam area attempted to besiege the Kottur Police Station, demanding justice for Sakthikumar's suicide and the immediate arrest of the fugitives.
Upon learning of the situation, police officials tried to negotiate with the protesters. The public warned that if the two absconding suspects were not arrested within a day, they would organize a massive demonstration. After authorities assured appropriate action would be taken, the crowd dispersed.
The incident has left the area in a state of unrest, with locals closely watching the developments in the case and expecting swift action from the police.
