CII Coimbatore Hosts Second Edition of Cyber Security Conclave 'Check Post 24'

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Coimbatore Zone organized the second edition of its Cyber Security Conclave, "Check Post 24," focusing on "Security, Beyond, Convergence." The event aimed to promote global competitiveness through cybersecurity best practices.


Coimbatore: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Coimbatore Zone successfully concluded the second edition of its Cyber Security Conclave, "Check Post 24" today in Coimbatore. The event, centered around the theme "Security, Beyond, Convergence," aimed to propel Coimbatore's industries towards adopting best practices for global competitiveness.



Dr Sanjay Tyagi, Director of STPI, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, delivered the inaugural address. He highlighted the rapid expansion of the internet, which has bridged the digital divide and accelerated India's digital transformation, positioning the country as a hub for future Global Capability Centers (GCCs). However, he also emphasized the growing cybersecurity risks associated with this digital surge.

Dr Tyagi mentioned Tamil Nadu's emergence as the SAAS capital and underscored the crucial role of quality data in driving AI advancements. He elaborated on the potential benefits of the proposed Digital Protection Act 2023 and announced STPI's collaboration with the state government to implement vulnerability tests for Centers of Entrepreneurship.



In his keynote address, Dr Rama Subramaniam, Director & CEO of Valiant Technologies Pvt Ltd, offered insights into why hackers often outmaneuver businesses. He emphasized the lack of a unified cybercrime definition, leading to varied interpretations at different stages. Dr Subramaniam provided a comprehensive overview of the cybersecurity ecosystem and the stages at which cybercrimes occur.

Gunasegharan K, Co-Convenor of the ICT Panel & Director of eCaps Computers Pvt Ltd, delivered the theme address, underscoring the critical importance of digital security. He highlighted the alarming 60.9% surge in cybercrime cases nationwide since the previous conclave and emphasized the event's objective to raise cybersecurity awareness in Coimbatore and establish the city as a cyber security hub for emerging startups.



Rajesh Doraiswamy, Vice Chairman of CII Coimbatore & Joint Managing Director of Salzer Electronics Ltd, in his welcome address, highlighted the increasing prevalence of cybercrimes in the city. He emphasized that cyberattacks not only result in financial losses but also pose significant reputational risks to companies.

The conference featured sessions on Cyber Security – New Paradigm Navigating the Data Privacy Landscape, Cyber Defence & Way Forward, and Protecting Your Gold. Notable speakers included Nilesh Jain, Co-Founder and CEO of Triam Security, Singapore; Subramaniam V, Chief Information Security Officer of IDBI Bank Ltd; Sakthi Thangavelu, Principal Consultant Privacy and Data Protection, AI Governance; Shubhosree Dasgupta, Country Head – Data & Analytics, HSBC India; Dr Subramanian Neelakantan, Executive Director, SETS; Sunny Vaghela, Founder & CEO, Techdefence Lab; Mark Mathew T, Business Consultant, eCAPS; Venkatesh Sadayappan, Director of Information Security Netcon Technologies; and Anish T S, Program Director Bosch.



The one-day conference attracted around 150 delegates from across the country, consisting of CXOs, Directors, and Senior Management Officials from Manufacturing and Service sectors.
