A college bus carrying students from private college collided with a truck at Pappampatti near Coimbatore on Tuesday morning, resulting in injuries to more than 10 students.
Coimbatore: A college bus accident near Coimbatore on Tuesday morning left more than 10 students injured, with three suffering grievous injuries. The incident occurred when a bus belonging to a Private College of Engineering near Eachanari collided with a truck at Pappampatti.
The accident took place on the Kochi-Palladam frontier road near Shanthi Feeds. The bus, carrying students from the Sulur region to Karpagam College of Engineering at Myleripalayam, rammed into the rear end of a truck. The impact of the collision caused severe damage to the left side of the bus, mangling three rows of seats.
Quick action by fellow students, motorists, and local residents helped in rescuing the injured students from the damaged bus. The victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Sulur Inspector R. Mathaiyan confirmed that while most students suffered minor injuries, three sustained grievous injuries in the accident. The police have attributed the cause of the accident to negligent driving by the bus driver.
The Sulur police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. This accident has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
