MDMK Stages Protest in Coimbatore Against Union Budget's Alleged Neglect of Tamil Nadu

MDMK members in Coimbatore protested against the Union Budget, claiming it neglected Tamil Nadu's financial needs. The demonstration, led by state council chairman Auditor Arjun Raj, demanded allocation for Coimbatore Metro project.

Coimbatore: Members of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) staged a protest in Coimbatore on Thursday, condemning the Union Government for allegedly neglecting Tamil Nadu in the recent budget allocations.

The demonstration, held in front of the South Taluk Office in Coimbatore, was part of a statewide protest initiative following a resolution passed by the MDMK general committee. The party accused the central government of not allocating sufficient funds to Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget.

MDMK State Council Chairman Auditor Arjun Raj led the protest, which saw participation from district secretaries and over 50 party cadres. The protesters raised slogans against the Union Government, expressing their dissatisfaction with the budget allocations.

A key demand raised during the protest was the allocation of funds for the Coimbatore Metro project. The MDMK members emphasized the importance of this infrastructure project for the city's development and urged the central government to provide the necessary financial support.

The protest in Coimbatore was one of many such demonstrations planned across Tamil Nadu by the MDMK. The party aims to highlight what it perceives as the Union Government's neglect of the state's financial needs and development projects.
