Coimbatore: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced that a new scheme called 'Mudhalvar Marundhagam' (Chief Minister's Pharmacy) will be implemented in Tamil Nadu from the upcoming Pongal festival. Under this scheme, 1,000 pharmacies are set to open in the first phase.

This new initiative is being introduced to reduce the expenses incurred by people who need to continuously purchase medications for chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin made this announcement after hoisting the national flag at Fort St. George in Chennai.

Through this scheme, people affected by chronic diseases will be able to obtain quality medicines at reduced prices. It is expected to help reduce medical expenses for families. Furthermore, it is believed that this initiative will not only improve people's health but also enhance their quality of life.

The 'Mudhalvar Marundhagam' scheme aims to make affordable medicines available not just in government hospitals but also in locations easily accessible to the public. This effort is expected to greatly benefit people living in rural and underprivileged areas in particular.

The implementation of this scheme underscores the government's commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and affordability across Tamil Nadu. It is seen as a significant step towards ensuring that essential medications are within reach of all sections of society, potentially leading to better health outcomes for the state's population.
