Nilgiris Collector Hoists National Flag, Honors Government Servants on Independence Day

Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru hoists the tricolour and honored 136 government servants during Independence Day celebrations in Udhagamandalam on Thursday.

Coimbatore: The Nilgiris district witnessed a patriotic fervor as Independence Day celebrations unfolded in Udhagamandalam on Thursday. District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru led the proceedings by hoisting the national flag, marking the 77th year of India's independence.

The ceremony began with Collector Tanneeru hoisting the tricolour, followed by her accepting the guard of honour. The event showcased the district's commitment to national pride and unity.

In a significant gesture of appreciation, Tanneeru distributed 136 certificates to government servants who had demonstrated exceptional dedication to their duties. Many of these officials were recognized for their outstanding work during the recent spell of heavy rains that had adversely affected the district.

The heavy rainfall had caused considerable damage to public infrastructure and the power grid in the Nilgiris. The honored government servants had played crucial roles in managing the crisis and ensuring minimal disruption to public services during this challenging period.

The Independence Day celebration in the Nilgiris not only commemorated the nation's freedom but also highlighted the importance of public service, especially during times of natural calamities. The event served as a reminder of the collective responsibility and resilience of the district's administrative machinery in facing adversities.
