BJP Threatens Massive Protest Over Dysfunctional CCTVs and Inadequate Facilities at Coimbatore Government Hospital

BJP State General Secretary A.P. Muruganandam inspected Coimbatore Government Hospital following a sexual assault incident. He criticized the non-functional CCTVs and lack of basic facilities, threatening a massive protest if issues aren't addressed.

Coimbatore: BJP State General Secretary A.P. Muruganandam has threatened to launch a massive protest if the issues of dysfunctional CCTVs and inadequate toilet facilities at Coimbatore Government Hospital are not addressed immediately.

The statement comes in the wake of a recent incident where a female trainee doctor was allegedly sexually assaulted at the hospital premises during the night. Muruganandam visited the hospital to inquire about the incident with the residential doctor.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Muruganandam drew parallels with a recent case in West Bengal where a second-year trainee doctor was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered, shaking the entire nation. He mentioned that 13 people have been arrested in that case, which is currently under CBI investigation.

Referring to the Coimbatore incident, Muruganandam said, "We came directly to investigate the situation. The government hospital has 200 CCTV cameras, but none of them are functioning."

He also highlighted the lack of proper toilet facilities, as reported by trainee doctors. "There's even a situation where there's no one to clean blood-stained cotton in the Intensive Care Unit," he added.

Muruganandam called for immediate action from the Health Minister regarding these issues. He warned, "If the CCTV repairs and toilet facilities are not addressed, the BJP will organize a massive protest."

The BJP leader's statements have brought attention to the urgent need for improved infrastructure and security measures at the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
