Coimbatore: A potential major accident was averted on Wednesday when a Tamil Nadu government bus narrowly missed colliding with a cargo auto that was violating one-way traffic rules. The incident, captured on CCTV, highlights the quick thinking and skill of the bus driver who managed to prevent a serious crash.

The government bus was en route to Coimbatore from Palakkad, Kerala. As it approached the Vijayalakshmi Mill area near Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore, a cargo auto attempted to cross the one-way street. Despite the bus traveling at considerable speed, the alert driver managed to apply the brakes in time, bringing the vehicle to a halt just before a major collision could occur.

Although a complete crash was avoided, the rear end of the cargo auto sustained some damage from the bus's front bumper. Fortunately, due to the bus driver's prompt action, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The police have registered a case against the cargo auto driver for violating one-way traffic rules and are conducting further investigations into the matter. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and the potential consequences of reckless driving.

The CCTV footage of the incident has been circulating, showcasing the bus driver's skillful maneuver that potentially saved lives. Local authorities are likely to use this incident to reinforce the need for strict compliance with traffic rules, especially in busy urban areas like Coimbatore.
