Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated the second floor of a new urban homeless shelter in Kempatti Colony on August 19. The facility, built with CSR funds from BOSCH, offers 25 beds for the homeless.
Coimbatore: The second floor of a newly constructed urban homeless shelter in Kempatti Colony, Ward 80 of Coimbatore Corporation's Central Zone, was inaugurated on August 19 by District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS. The ceremony was held in the presence of Honorable Mayor Ranganayaki .
The shelter, built on Corporation land, was fully funded by BOSCH private limited under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The project, valued at Rs. 60 lakhs, provides accommodation with 25 beds for the homeless in the city.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS, Assistant Collector (Training) Angatkumar Jain IAS, Deputy Mayor R. Vetriselvan, and Public Health Committee Chairman P. Mariselvan.
Other officials present at the event were Assistant Commissioner Senthilkumaran, City Health Officer Dr. K. Boopathi, Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, Assistant Executive Engineer Hemalatha, Zonal Health Officer (in-charge) Gunasekaran, BOSCH company official Naved Narayan, and Ganesh from the Helping Hearts NGO.
This new facility is expected to provide much-needed shelter and support for the homeless population in Coimbatore, demonstrating a successful collaboration between the local government and private sector in addressing social issues.
