Sudden cyclonic winds cause havoc in Aliyar and surrounding areas near Pollachi

Unexpected cyclonic winds hit Aliyar and nearby areas near Pollachi, causing trees to fall on roads and disrupting traffic. The incident occurred due to changes in weather conditions.

Coimbatore: Cyclonic winds struck the Aliyar region and surrounding areas near Pollachi on Wednesday morning, causing significant disruption to daily life and traffic. The sudden weather change led to fallen trees blocking roads and damaging property.

The day began with overcast skies in the Aliyar area, followed by an abrupt onset of strong winds. The cyclonic gusts caused roofs to be blown away in nearby localities, while tree branches snapped and fell onto roads, severely impacting vehicular movement.

Near Aliyar Park, a parked car suffered extensive damage when a tree toppled onto it. In a more severe incident, a massive tree fell on the Sri Lankan Tamil Rehabilitation Camp, damaging four houses.

The usually busy Aliyar-Valparai road wore a deserted look as it was littered with fallen trees and branches. The continuous strong winds have made travel on this route hazardous, forcing many to avoid the area.

Pollachi and its surrounding regions have been experiencing widespread rainfall recently. Meteorologists attribute the sudden cyclonic winds to changes in weather patterns in the area. Local authorities are working to clear the roads and restore normalcy in the affected areas.

Residents are advised to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel until the situation improves. The local administration is monitoring the weather conditions closely and is prepared to respond to any emergencies that may arise due to the ongoing cyclonic winds.
