TIDCO and Tata Technologies to Establish ₹400 crore TN ENGINE Advanced Engineering Facility in Coimbatore

Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation and Tata Technologies join forces to create "TN Engine" in Coimbatore, investing ₹400 crores for an advanced engineering facility focusing on nine emerging technologies.



Coimbatore: In a significant move to boost technological innovation in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) is set to collaborate with Tata Technologies to establish an advanced common engineering facility center in Coimbatore. The joint venture, named "TN Engine - Tamil Nadu Engineering & Innovation Centre," will be located on the Anna University campus and focus on nine emerging technologies.

The project, with an investment of ₹400 crores, was announced during the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2024 held in Chennai. Chief Minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for this initiative along with 27 other industrial projects, collectively worth ₹51,157 crores. The event also saw the inauguration of 19 additional projects with an investment of ₹17,616 crores.

State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa highlighted the importance of this venture, stating, "The government, in association with TIDCO and TATA Technologies, will establish the Tamil Nadu Engineering and Innovations Centre (TN ENGINE) at Coimbatore with an investment of ₹400 crore."

The investment conclave showcased Tamil Nadu's commitment to industrial growth and technological advancement. Among the notable projects announced was Singapore-based Sembcorp's plan to invest ₹36,238 crores for a green hydrogen/green ammonia manufacturing unit in Tuticorin district. Additionally, the Greenko Group will set up pumped storage projects across Tamil Nadu with an investment of ₹20,114 crores.

These initiatives are expected to create employment opportunities for over 100,000 individuals, significantly boosting the state's economy and technological capabilities. The establishment of TN Engine in Coimbatore is particularly noteworthy as it aims to position the city as a hub for emerging technologies and engineering innovation.
