Coimbatore Corporation Introduces Handheld Tax Collection Machines

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, IAS, introduced handheld tax collection machines to facilitate easier payment of property tax, water charges, and vacant land tax for residents.


Coimbatore: In a move to streamline tax collection and enhance convenience for residents, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has introduced handheld tax collection machines. Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, IAS, distributed these devices to tax collectors at the main office of the municipal corporation.

The new handheld machines will enable citizens to pay various taxes, including property tax, water charges, and vacant land tax, using both cash and credit/debit cards. This initiative aims to simplify the tax payment process and provide multiple payment options to the public.



Deputy Commissioner K. Sivakumar was also present during the distribution of these devices. The introduction of these portable machines is expected to increase efficiency in tax collection and reduce waiting times for residents who wish to pay their dues to the corporation.

This technological advancement is part of the Coimbatore Corporation's efforts to modernize its operations and improve service delivery to its citizens. The handheld machines are likely to be particularly beneficial in areas where access to traditional payment counters might be limited, thus ensuring wider coverage for tax collection across the city.
