Former Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan Criticizes DMK Government for Halting Animal Husbandry Schemes in Pollachi

Former Animal Husbandry Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan accuses DMK government of discontinuing beneficial schemes implemented during AIADMK rule. He demands reinstatement of free livestock distribution programs for rural poor.

Coimbatore: Former Animal Husbandry Minister and Udumalaipettai MLA Udumalai Radhakrishnan has accused the DMK government of discontinuing beneficial schemes in the animal husbandry sector that were implemented during the AIADMK rule.

Radhakrishnan made these comments after inaugurating new tar road works worth Rs 75 lakhs in Makkinampatti, Unjavelampatti, and other panchayats near Pollachi, funded through the MLA Constituency Development Fund.

Speaking to reporters, Radhakrishnan highlighted that during the AIADMK government's tenure, schemes were implemented to benefit poor rural residents. These included the annual distribution of free goats, milch cows, and country chickens to two lakh people. He emphasized that these programs were instrumental in improving the livelihoods of the rural poor during the ten-year AIADMK rule.

Radhakrishnan criticized the current DMK government, stating, "At present, no major schemes are being implemented under the DMK rule. All such beneficial programs have been halted." He urged the Tamil Nadu government to reinstate and implement schemes for distributing milch cows, goats, and country chickens to support the rural population.

The former minister's statements underscore the ongoing political debate over rural welfare schemes and their implementation in Tamil Nadu.
