Drunk Private Bus Driver Caught by Public Near Palladam

Near Palladam, a private bus driver operating under the influence of alcohol was apprehended by vigilant public. DSP Vijikumar ordered the cancellation of the driver's license if intoxication is confirmed.



Coimbatore: In a shocking incident near Palladam, a private bus driver was caught driving under the influence of alcohol by alert members of the public. The bus, carrying 50 passengers, was en route from Pollachi to Bangalore when the incident occurred.

As the bus approached Vadugapalayam area near Palladam, passengers noticed the vehicle moving erratically. Concerned citizens stopped the bus and confronted the driver. Upon inspection, they discovered a bottle of juice mixed with alcohol in the driver's possession. The public immediately alerted the Palladam police about the situation.



Responding swiftly to the call, Palladam police arrived at the scene and took the driver into custody for questioning. DSP Vijikumar, who rushed to the spot, stated that if the driver's intoxication is confirmed, his driving license would be revoked.

The police arranged for an alternate driver to ensure the safety of the stranded passengers. The accused driver, identified as Venkatasalapathi (32), was subjected to a medical examination which confirmed alcohol consumption.

The incident created a brief commotion in the area as concerned citizens took matters into their own hands to prevent a potential tragedy. This event has raised serious questions about the safety measures in place for private bus operations and the need for stricter monitoring of drivers' conduct.
