Coimbatore: In a significant development for the residents of Somavarappatti Panchayat near Udumalaipettai, a Bhoomi Puja ceremony was conducted to mark the beginning of construction for two essential public facilities. The event, which took place in Potti Nayakkanur village, saw the initiation of works for a fair price shop and a public toilet, addressing long-standing demands of the local community.
The fair price shop, a crucial component of the public distribution system, will be established in the Somavarappatti Panchayat area. Simultaneously, a public toilet facility will be constructed at the Bethampatti four-road junction, catering to the needs of the general public. These initiatives fall under the jurisdiction of the Gudimangalam North Union in the Udumalaipettai Assembly constituency of Tiruppur district.
The Bhoomi Puja ceremony was attended by prominent officials and political representatives. Padmanabhan, the Tiruppur South District Secretary of the DMK, inaugurated the event and laid the foundation. The occasion was graced by the presence of Giri, the Gudimangalam North Union Secretary, along with various union administrators, district deputy team executives, local body representatives, and DMK officials.
