Aram Foundation conducts self defense workshop at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vadavalli

Aram Foundation and Charitable Trust recently conducted a self defense workshop at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vadavalli. The self defense workshop was organized as a part of the summer camp activities at the school.

The workshop had nearly 110 students ranging from the 6th to 8th standard. The students were trained by Vivek and Karthik who are martial arts aces. The students were taught various self defense techniques as well as about good and bad touch. This will help them walk safe in this today’s dangerous world.

With an increase in the rate of crimes against kids, self defense workshops empower kids to tackle any kind of dangerous situation themselves. Ten basic techniques that were taught to safeguard themselves in untoward situations included self defense against hand wrist grab, punches, kicks and chokes. They are also taught to stay calm and make rational decisions in precarious situations.

Apart from the conventional self defense, students learnt to stay strong headed regardless of the hurdles they have to face. These classes were held keeping in mind students who succumb to exam pressure and commit suicides.

This workshop was helpful in the holistic development of students and provided them with the confidence and strength to face all the obstacles that life threw at them.
