Tamil Nadu Farmers and Laborers Party Files Complaint Against Overflowing Sewage in Coimbatore Streets

Members of the Tamil Nadu Farmers and Laborers Party filed a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation regarding sewage overflow in Gandhi Puram and Radhakrishnan Road areas, affecting residents and posing health risks.

Coimbatore: Members of the Tamil Nadu Farmers and Laborers Party (TNFLP) submitted a complaint to Senthil Kumaran, the Assistant Commissioner of the Central Zone of Coimbatore Corporation, regarding the persistent issue of overflowing sewage in residential areas.

Led by Prince, the Central District President of TNFLP in Coimbatore, the delegation represented the residents of Ward 68 in Gandhi Puram 9th Street Extension and Radhakrishnan Road.

The complaint highlighted that sewage water has been flowing on the streets for over a month, instead of through the designated drainage channels.

The affected area, which is at the intersection of Gandhi Puram 9th Street Extension and Radhakrishnan Road, is home to two kindergarten schools, a hospital, and is 95% residential. The complainants stressed that this situation is causing great inconvenience to the public and poses a significant risk of spreading diseases.

Furthermore, the petition noted that vehicle drivers are inadvertently splashing sewage water on pedestrians, causing distress to those walking in the area. The TNFLP members emphasized that a permanent solution to this problem would only be achieved by thoroughly desilting the entire sewage drainage system along Radhakrishnan Road in Gandhi Puram.

Prince, the Central District President of TNFLP in Coimbatore, stated that they decided to approach the Assistant Commissioner of the Coimbatore Corporation Central Zone directly after multiple complaints at the ward level failed to yield any results. The party hopes that this escalation will lead to prompt action to address the sewage overflow issue and improve the living conditions for residents in the affected areas.
