Two Arrested for Stabbing and Robbing School Student Near Sulur

Two men were arrested for stabbing and robbing a 14-year-old student near Sulur. The incident occurred when the victim was returning home from tuition. Police are searching for a third suspect who fled the scene.


Coimbatore: Two men were arrested on August 31 for allegedly stabbing and robbing a 14-year-old school student near Sulur, Coimbatore. The incident took place when the victim, a 9th-grade student from Venkateswara Nagar, was walking home after attending tuition classes.

According to police reports, three individuals intercepted the student and demanded his mobile phone. When the boy refused, the assailants stabbed him with a knife and fled the scene with his phone.

The Sulur police, upon receiving information about the incident, rushed to the spot and began their investigation. After examining CCTV footage from the area, they managed to identify and apprehend two suspects: Iyappan (29) and Tamilselvan (22).

The arrested individuals were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to the Coimbatore Central Prison. Meanwhile, the police are actively searching for the third suspect who managed to escape.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of students in the area, especially those returning home late after tuition classes. Local residents have urged the police to increase patrols and enhance security measures to prevent such crimes in the future.
