Jallikattu Bull Statue to be Unveiled Soon at Coimbatore Race Course

A Jallikattu bull statue has been installed at Coimbatore Race Course under the Smart City project. The statue, weighing 1 ton, will be unveiled soon, adding to the city's attractions.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has installed a Jallikattu bull statue at the Race Course under the Smart City project, adding another attraction to the city's landscape.

As part of the Smart City initiative, Coimbatore has been undergoing various development projects including the restoration of tank bunds, creation of recreational facilities, implementation of a 24-hour drinking water supply scheme, multi-level parking, and model road construction.

The Jallikattu bull statue, a part of this development drive, has been erected at the Race Course roundabout with private participation. The statue stands opposite to an existing horse statue, which commemorates the area's history of horse racing.

A Corporation official stated, "We already have a horse statue at the Race Course to remind us of its horse racing legacy. Now, on the other side of the horse statue, we have installed a Jallikattu bull statue to attract visitors. The statue is made of fiber, aluminum, and bronze, weighing 1 ton."

The official added that the new Jallikattu bull statue will be unveiled to the public soon. This installation is expected to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Race Course area and serve as a new landmark in Coimbatore.
