Encroachments Removed Along Mettupalayam Road in Coimbatore

Highway Department officials removed pushcarts encroaching on roads from Mettupalayam Road to Gaundampalayam in Coimbatore on September 2, following public complaints about daily traffic congestion.

Coimbatore: In a swift operation on September 2, officials from the Highway Department removed encroachments along the roads stretching from Mettupalayam Road to Gaundampalayam in Coimbatore district. The primary targets of this removal drive were pushcarts that had been illegally occupying public spaces along these busy thoroughfares.

The action came in response to numerous complaints from the general public regarding the daily traffic congestion caused by these encroachments. Commuters had been facing significant difficulties navigating through these areas due to the unauthorized presence of these pushcarts, which had considerably narrowed the usable road space.

Taking note of the public's grievances, the Highway Department officials conducted a surprise operation. They systematically cleared the pushcarts that were identified as the main contributors to the traffic bottlenecks. The removal of these obstacles is expected to significantly ease the flow of traffic and improve overall road safety in the area.

This operation underscores the authorities' commitment to maintaining clear and safe roadways for the public. It also serves as a reminder to street vendors about the importance of adhering to designated areas for their business activities to prevent disruption to public movement and safety.
